New book shows Newcastle were formed in 1881

The 'acknowledged' narrative is that Newcastle were formed in 1892 but a new book, which I have read, shows it was 1881. It means the Mags join Sunderland in having an unacknowledged real start date with the latter club continuing to claim that it began in October 1979 when it was the following year in September.
