AM I A RECORD
HOLDER?
In my lifetime
there is only one ground where league football has been played and on which
Sunderland has played where I have not seen the club play in a competitive
match against that side in either the League, FA Cup or League Cup. That was
Northampton Town on 2 January 20121 when due to COVID no fans were allowed.
I also saw (in
a loose sense as it was a very foggy night!) Sunderland play at Odsal in the
Full Members Cup in 1986.

Ones I have
missed out in my lifetime – Gateshead United (left league in 1960), Accrington

1966-67), Haig Avenue – Southport, Bradford Park Avenue – left league in 1970)
and Bournemouth – who in 2001-02 played home games at Dorchester’s Ground and
for some unfathomable reason I never went!
