Fundamental to the fight: highlights from the Liverpool Dockers’ mass meetings 1995-98

Between 1995-98 Liverpool dockers were locked out of their workplace after they refused to cross a picket line. Key to this heroic resistance over such a lengthy period was the gathering together of dockers in mass meetings. It gave the workers a confidence bred of their own numbers, and it enabled the organisers to reach them personally with their educational appeal and organisation methods.

Taken from over 40 hours of recordings, you can listen to some of the highlights of the meetings in which strategies, that generated solidarity worldwide, are debated and voted upon. The 130 minutes starts with speeches from Tony Benn MP, Jeremy Corbyn and John Pilger at a London rally before the voices of Liverpool Dockers, including Jimmy Nolan, ring out loud and clear.
