Having transferred major services from Bridlington Hospital to Scarborough [see archive articles on www.markwrite.co.uk/archive.htm] the over-reliance on the ambulance service to rush people back and forward between the two towns is now at crumbling point. Only two weeks ago three kids, all aged under nine, died in a Bridlington house fire whilst it took over 40 minutes for an ambulance to arrive. Now it appears that on Saturday [the 4th] a 52 year old man who was knocked over in a hit and run accident [which Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses for] was forced to wait nearly an hour for an ambulance to arrive from Scarborough.
With the Tories still to begin making good their promises to restore services at Bridlington then things seem unlikely to improve in the near future, especially as a paramedic friend of mine tells me that morale is at "rock bottom."
